If you just put a site out there, helter-skelter, it will just sit there. The more time you spend up front, using the tools in the research phase, the less time it will take, but you will still need to satisfy the internet search engines, through your keywords and your content, which will take time, before your traffic starts to build up. But if you pay attention to the details and religiously follow the directions, it will happen. What have you got to lose in the meantime? If you want to use things like italics, or bold, or underline, and a few other simple enhancement things then you might need some reference like the Web Pages For Dummies mentioned above. It shows you how do these simple little things by using various text codes, called HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) codes, as you enter your text. It also shows you how to use some web-building software package you might already have, such as DreamWeaver or FrontPage. But, again, all you really need to get yourself a good site and get some traffic on it is SiteBuildIt! and the time and patience to go over the material slowly and methodically. Once you have your site up and you have some traffic building up on it, you can always "get fancy" and make it pretty later.

As a result of that show, we bought the book, and it's great. The whole premise of the For Dummies series is that, you don't have to read it from front to back. Each individual chapter stands on its own, and teaches you the given topic without depending on any previous content. After the website was up for awhile and I was mainly just adding pages, I bought "HTML for the World Wide Web" by Elizabeth Castro; it's a wonderful, easy to use guide for doing whatever level of HTML fanciness you want to add into any of your web pages. I don’t upload my own HTML pages into my site; I use the SBI! block-by-block building method, because it works so well. But even within that SBI! methodology, a good HTML book is a good thing to keep handy.

Do this one thing right, and your ranking will grow, and so will your traffic. Remember - although you haven't written a word yet, and maybe only have the germ of an idea, people are searching on the WWW for that idea right now. And the spiders will help them to find you. The spiders will raise or lower your search engine rank, both for the name of your site, and for other special keywords embedded in your content. Do this one thing right and the people who are out there looking for you will find you. Put "Thinking Catholic Strategic Center", both with and without the quotes, in the search key of your favorite search engine(s) and see where this site ranks in the search results, which come out of their continually changing ranking databases. You should see some page (or multiple pages) from within this site somewhere in the first one or two pages of your search results. It's the same with several other keywords I use. I give thanks to the information, advice and tools that came with Site Build It!, and to the major search-engine spiders. This site is slowly but continuously and relentlessly building traffic, just as predicted. A "hobby" website can turn into a web business, in a heartbeat. Once it builds some serious traffic, it could turn into a website home business for you, even though that might not have been your original intent. The beauty of a website home business is that, no matter where you are, no matter what you're doing, your store is always open. You can take a nap, or a vacation, but your website home business is always working for you, around the clock and around the calendar. Your site can make you money. If you have a product to sell or a service to provide, believe me, an active, well done website will pull more customers than any advertisement or any source of leads you could ever purchase. These potential customers are, right now, pro-actively searching for you on the internet. If you have no product or service, but you know something, or there is some topic you love to write about, your INFORMATION ONLY site can make you money through "affiliate" ad programs, just by the percentage of visitors who click on affiliate ads in your new website home business. In one respect, this might be easier for ladies than for gentlemen, because of the inherent real men don't need directions notion embedded within the male psyche. Information drives internet searchers to what they’re searching for, and a well designed niche website is always a potential website home business. Most of us would like to make our living doing something we love, and many are blessed in that area of their lives, but many more are not. But it is pretty likely that there is something you love and are knowledgeable about, some little niche subject that is dear to your heart. Imagine writing about it on your own website. A niche hobby, craft, art form or technology, limited only by your interests and imagination, could easily develop into a sizable website. And websites with good traffic are all about finding a particular niche subject. An off-the-wall little niche website that you would never think anyone else would be interested in is, as it turns out, the very thing most likely to eventually become a major internet item. Successful websites, and website home businesses, have been made on everything from needlepoint, to tropical fish, to carpentry, to politics, to religion, to history, to law, to language, to ethnic heritage, to niche-blogging, to – you name it. And every one of them has the ability to morph into a money making website home business, one way or another. Which would mean that you would be making money by doing something that you love to do. An existing website home business is not going anywhere without traffic. You shouldn’t have to advertise it, buy leads for it or tell anyone about it; site traffic should increase on its own, if it’s designed and built right to begin with. If you already have a business website that is just lost in the crowd and not self-generating any traffic for you, you have two ways to redeem it. First, as Option One, you could convert it to an SBI! website, following the SBI! formula, and gradually turn the traffic situation around. But if, for whatever reason, you need that original website to stay untouched, then, as Option 2, you could build a new SBI! website designed for the specific purpose of generating business-related traffic, and then funnel that building traffic to your other existing business website through hyperlinks. Even if you have no product or service to sell, once your topical or hobby website builds up some traffic, put some affiliate ads on it, and it will become a website home business for you, with nothing else to do on your part. You don’t need any product or service to have your own website home business working for you 24 hours a day, every day, with no time off. All you really need is good, traffic drawing content.
