How did it ever come to be that Chastity is considered weird?

Where did we go wrong?
What prompted these thoughts was another one of those "public health" commercials that wasn't selling anything, but warning people about a life-threatening infectuous disease, but without even mentioning the causative activity.
In fact, it seemed to be studiously going out of its way to avoid any mention of exactly how you get this life-threatening disease.
Maybe you've seen it. It shows shocked feminine face after stunned feminine face after deer-in-the-headlights feminine face, each emitting its own sound-bite partial sentence, collectively telling the story that the main cause of deadly cervical cancer these days is HPV, or Human Papilloma-Virus. Street name (not mentioned) Venereal Warts, although warts may or may not appear, and even if they do present they may be internal on a woman and therefore not noticed.
How do you get it? By un-chastity. By any skin contact at all, anywhere in the genital area. Condoms are absolutely useless in preventing this venereal infection. More than half of the un-chaste human population in America is already infected with it.
Did the term un-chastity cause you to roll your eyes? Consider this: why would any serious, real public health announcement about such a dangerous possible infection leave out and not even mention the path to infection and the way you can get infected? Who's interest is being served here?
Perhaps you see this article as just more ranting from a Right Wing Religious Nut; and perhaps it is. After all, I am Right Wing, and I am a Religious Nut. But let me warn you: what you do not hear from the Left Wing Anti-Religion Nuts can make you dead. Your tax dollars are paying them to not tell you how to stay healthy and alive.
Chastity for single people means celibacy. Chastity for married people means absolute sexual fidelity to each other, exclusive of all others. If a married couple were chaste before marriage and practice marital fidelity afterward, they will never get HPV, or any other venereal disease. If a single person practices celibacy, they will never get HPV or any other venereal disease. There's nothing difficult about this. Chaste people never have to worry about being shocked or stunned by the discovery of a mere virus that can bring about cancer, or that untold millions are already infected with it. All of that worry is reserved very strictly for the un-chaste population, however large or small it may be.
Which calls into question the direction of our common culture. Our faith tells us believers that human life is sacred, that sexuality is therefore sacred and reserved for the married state. Against that moral norm, the Left Wing un-believers hold nothing whatsoever to be sacred, and deny even the very notion of sacredness itself. They therefore live pointless and purposeless existences, and are here for and geared toward what they can get out of this life only.
With the upcoming mid-term elections, this vast, sharp and crystal-clear philosophical difference presents an opportunity of unprecedented potential. In our on-going War On Terror we desperately need an objective moral compass. The immoral and the amoral among us couldn't care less whether the world goes Moslem, or Marxist, or whatever. In fact, a popular saying among young people today is exactly that: Whatever.
Our culture seems to be leaning to the Left, and most of the Leftists of today don't really even know what they are, or what they stand for, if indeed they stand for anything at all. There is just this vague disliking of borders, and of nations, and of patriotism, with nothing behind this vague disliking other than the lingering effects of multiple Liberal teachers in multiple Liberal teaching institutions. Authority, of course, is seen as negative, and since America is a very powerful force in the world, America is authoritative, and therefore, bad. As opposed to what? They don't really know; they've never experienced anything else.
These are the citizens who will submit to Islam, and learn the new Islamic liturgical rules regarding farting during prayer and so forth. Better to be Moslem than beheaded.
Un-belief with no objective guiding Truth just blows in the wind. Tocqueville, many years ago, found the source of American greatness coming down from the pulpits of thousands of American Christian Churches, and being carried home and to work in the typical American soul. When Americans stop being good, America will stop being great.
Take a fresh look at our two political Parties and think clearly about the options here. The Republican Party is not and never will be perfect; however, on every single moral issue, the Democratic Party is the bad guy. You owe it to your country to not let them take over.
In the Democratic Party will be found the current public champions and political sponsors of artificial contraception so more people can get out there and screw, and so that other people's children may be taught by the god-state the mechanics of safe fornication and protected sodomy and responsible promiscuity. Screwing brings fulfillment, see?
In the Democratic Party will be found the current public champions and political sponsors of abortion on demand so women can continue to use it as another means of contraception, and get back out there and get back to screwing; it's a matter of quality of life and fulfillment. Abortion is a major plank in their Party Platform; it's what they stand for; it's what they're about; it's what they love and believe in.
In the Democratic Party will be found the current public champions and political sponsors of America's disgusting masturbation industry; they will probably hold Party fund-raisers at the Playboy Mansion, and Larry Flynt will take his seat of honor at the Kennedy table.
In the Democratic Party will be found the current public champions and political sponsors of commandeering the Supreme Court for the Left, and keeping their vision of a "living" and "organic" (which means infinitely variable) Constitution, as opposed to our being a nation of laws. Since the Democratic Party can't get any of the things it wants passed by the voters, they get them passed by the courts, which they intend to continue to own.
The Constitution, thanks to the Democrats (and a whole lot of weaklings in the Congress and in the Executive Office) is no longer a specific legal document that says very specific legal things. It is now a tool by which the Court, which was designed and intended by our founding fathers to be a co-equal branch of government with the other two branches, has become a tyrannical power unto itself with the full ability to legislate and enforce law, rather than interpreting pre-existing written legal words.
Say thanks to the Democrats, especially for never, ever getting the option to vote on things like abortion, or even to have representative law legally legislated by Congress and then left alone by the courts.
(I submit that our Constitution is either a fixed legal document that says very specific legal things, or it is nothing.)
In the Democratic Party will be found the current public champions and political sponsors of grand social plans and government controls interfering with free markets, the natural laws of supply and demand, and automatic prices.
The typical Republican Right Wing Conservative approach involves what Reagan called Supply Side economics, which seeks ways to encourage people to go to work and encourages businesses, small and large, to start up and/or to expand. Some from this camp (including me) would abolish the Fed in favor of returning to the Gold Standard, and stop fiddling with interest rates, allowing them to naturally float free, the same as prices, with government controls restricted solely to the supply of money (Monetarism.) The supply of money should only grow at about 2.5% per year, or, at a rate that roughly keeps pace with increasing population, and interest rates should be left alone.
The typical Democrat Left Wing Liberal approach involves Demand Side economics, which seeks to increasingly use Federal funds to take care of more and more people, discouraging people from going to work, and to increase taxes on business commensurate with profit increases. They do not see this as punishing success, or as killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. This camp always seeks to fix prices, and even wages, along with profits, which are always seen as evil.
For instance, in the Democratic view, a punitive "demand tax" on gas at the pump would lower demand for gas and reduce any current supply crunch. Of course, that's what a lot of European nations have done for decades, and all they have to show for it is decades of paying two or three times what we pay for the same gas coming out of the same open market, with prices set in Rotterdam; Democrats think this is a good thing. (It keeps the poor on foot or on bicycle, where they belong, making less contentious traffic for government and show-biz limos and custom busses. (The really rich would probably like to see gas go to $1,000 per gallon, or even more; then they'd be the only ones on the roads.))
In the Democratic Party will be found the current public champions and political sponsors of changing our strategy in the War On Terror to cut-and-run. They may say redeploy but what they mean is cut-and-run. What does redeploy mean? It means move them from where they are to somewhere else. A politically softened way to say cut-and-run. Some of these Dems appear to be geographically challenged, since they publicly recommend close, just over-the-horizon re-deployment, to an island on the opposite side of the Earth from the action.
Islam isn't so bad, in their weak and faithless view. They would like for Israel to negotiate with the terrorists, and be willing to compromise on her right to continue to exist, and even compromise on the right of innocent Jews to continue to live, for the sake of negotiation and compromise. These are much easier positions to take for unbelievers, and the Democratic Party is where you will find most of the un-believers.
And, in the Democratic Party will be found the current public champions and political sponsors of un-belief or a lukewarm, mushy sort of general spirituality, which most of us would recognize as the sin of indifferentism. Spirituality, sort of. Nothing specific. Silence, maybe; but no prayer.
The recent hullabaloo over Mel Gibson's little drunken anti-Semitic remarks to an arresting cop got my attention. It wasn't the event so much as the response to it. Many American Jews seem to be in support of the Democratic Party and the ACLU position that's driving America toward a post-Christian future. Now, Jews have already seen that sort of thing, in Post-Christian Germany. you would logically think that, after that horrific experience, they would prefer for us to keep our Christianity, and strengthen it, most particularly out in the public square. Judaism, and the world, do not need to experience any Post-Christian America.
The Leftist trend has taken over entertainment and the airwaves. If you want to see sacredness reduced to a level beneath the common – to downright vulgarity - just turn on your TV. There you will see sex as mere entertainment, Christian practice trivialized and scorned, Christian clerics portrayed as buffoons and clowns, and the Church He founded openly mocked. The open religious intolerance and insensitivity is stunning. It's as though everyone in show-biz were typical Democratic Party anti-Christian bigots and big-shot official Party spokesmen.
Think about where we are. Think about where we're going. Think about what you can do about it.
God bless.
