Debt Ceiling Nonsense.

The American debt ceiling nonsense is the current hot political topic. Everyone, on both sides, seems to see a legislated raise in the debt ceiling to be a fete accompli.
Why exactly is that so?
Raising the debt ceiling, and borrowing more to pay back what we owe, should be seen at once, by everyone, to be just plain stupid. We cannot borrow our way out of debt. How we first got tricked into beginning this ongoing political game of economic destruction I don’t know, but anyone with a lick of common sense should know that the first thing you do when you owe too much money is you stop borrowing any more money. Repeatedly borrowing more money to pay back money owed is just head-banging lunacy.
Yet even Republican leadership, and even many of the newer Tea Party Republicans, see a “need” and “no way around it” and a “duty” to raise the debt ceiling. Which just keeps getting raised, again and again. Why? So that we can borrow more money. Why do we need to borrow more money? Because we cannot pay back what we owe.
Lord, give me strength.
Note well that we do not have a revenue problem; we have more monthly revenue now than ever before. What we have here is a spending problem pure and simple.
We have plenty of monthly revenue (income) to cover our debt and service the most vital needs of government without borrowing any more money and without printing any more money. There is not enough monthly revenue to cover all of the spending the Obamunist regime has saddled us with. There is a need to pick-and-choose what government nonsense and what entitlements cannot be fully funded after paying such necessities as military pay and retirement, social security, national security needs, etc. If we had a decent man in control of the check book, this would not be a problem at all, except in the short term.
All spending begins in the House. The budget comes out of Congress. The House submits a budget, the Senate approves it, and the President signs it. Then, the President holds the check book. He cannot spend more than the budget, but, he has wide leeway in deciding what to feed and what to starve in conditions such as those in which we find ourselves today.
In two years of total Marxocrat Party control of the House, the Senate and the Presidency, no budget was ever even submitted, let alone passed, because the Marxists in control did not (and do not) want any public visibility into what where and how they were spending our money. The very idea of a budget, let alone a balanced budget, is absolutely anathema to them. The very idea of any controls whatsoever on what they do with the national treasure is repulsive to all Marxists. We are not operating under a budget today, and I believe that is a first in American history.
There will be no “melt down” if we stop borrowing money. We can still service our debt. The only way there could be a melt-down is if the President decided to not service our debt. The money is there.
If we lose our international credit rating temporarily that would not be the end of the world. We need to get our books in order. We should pay what we can, and not pay the least of the necessities of national continuance. Just doing that alone should help bolster and encourage business that is today terrified of any business commitment.
The question before us regards whether Comrade Obama, peace be upon him, will stop paying military pay and social security, as he has threatened. Everyone knows there is no need for him to do that. However, Comrade Obama is a Marxist, which is to say, he is an anti-American, He is not fond of America, he is not fond of our Constitution, and he is out to do us injury, if not destroy us.
Republican leadership believes he will not do that because he seeks reelection in 2012. I believe that he would like to be reelected, but if he is not, it is no big deal to him. He will do whatever harm he can to us between now and then, without gong to jail over it. He will not miss taking advantage of any crisis, and he might not miss even inventing a crisis to take advantage of. He doesn’t want to be our President so much as he wants to be our Ruler, or, failing that, our destroyer.
The real question is whether he has the nerve to do what he wants to do, which is, cut off social security, Medicare, military pay, etc., and blame it on the Republicans. That would bring about a real crisis; do you not agree? The Marxists want people in the streets and a loss of order. It’s what they pine for.
I told you before the 2010 election we needed to take the Senate in that election, because cases of impeachment are tried in the Senate, and we needed to impeach this guy. There is no way the current Marxist Senate would even entertain the idea of impeaching Obama.
So here we are. Fasten your seat belts.

I absolutely couldn't agree more! Most everyone I know or speak with, feels the same way, so how did this freak end up in the WH?? He hates this country with a passion, and ALL he wants to do is destroy bits and pieces of it as he goes. Why can't the rest of this stupid country see that? This is Obama-Reparation. Maybe when he shuts off cell-phones, and the Internet, THEN the morons will look up and rebel.
Just sayin'.

Vic-
If the debt ceiling isn’t raised we face a financial melt-down and the permanent loss of the full faith and credit of the nation, and at that point, we will be toast. You should at least give Speaker Boehner credit for trying to avoid that economic disaster, and you should pray for his success.

That is untrue, and Boehner knows it, or he should know it. If I know it, and he is the Speaker of the House, then whey doesn’t he know it?
Common sense should tell you that, in this situation, raising the debt ceiling and/or borrowing any more money over what we already owe is a certain path to exactly what you described: “ … an eventual financial melt-down and the permanent loss of the full faith and credit of the nation.”
Freezing our borrowing power right where it is will cause no such thing, unless the President – the man holding the check book – is a criminal, and has criminal intent. If Boehner, or any other office holder, knows that to be true, then he should say it, out loud, in public. Anyone who says that going past any date and not raising the debt ceiling will, in and of itself, cause America to go into default is a flagrant categorical liar, or, stupid, and doesn’t know any better. That goes for Boehner as much as it goes for Obama.
The President does not have the legal authority to default on America’s debt when there is money available to prevent that. What we are talking about is a potential default on US Treasury Notes. There is plenty of monthly revenue available for that purpose, and more.
Of course, after the virtual nationalization of GM, Comrade Obama illegally defaulted on GM bonds, and he stole the investment property of holders and gave some of it to his union supporters, so that gives us a bit of an insight into what kind of man is currently holding the national check book. I would not put it entirely past Comrade Obama to again violate his oath of office and throw is into national default, and then blame it on the Republican Party.
Social Security has a similar legal protection; before SS payments may be defaulted, Treasury Notes must be sold to cover the required payments. Again, that’s just the law, and again, Comrade Obama has repeatedly shown that he considers himself to be above the law.
Let me ask you something, Joe:
If this is such a flaming emergency, after the debt ceiling is raised again to avert this disaster, how much more serious will the next emergency be, when the ceiling must be raised again, and we are untold trillions or quadrillions more in the hole than we are now?
Boehner is my representative; I happen to live in his district. Any strict constitutionalist who runs against him in any primary will get my vote and my full support.
We need to get rid of all the remainder of the old time professional office holders in the Republican Party, anywhere in government, and we need to replace them with ordinary citizen Representatives, ordinary citizen Senators, ordinary citizen Executives and ordinary citizen Justices. The day of the professional politician in America needs to come to an end. The Democrat Party has actually become evil, and the Republican Party old timers no longer know right from wrong, for they make deals with and compromise with and politic with evil.
Most of them are just pork-barrel politicians who have learned to game the system for their own benefit, and they have lost track of who they are, what they are supposed to be doing, who they are supposed to be representing, and – most importantly – simple right from wrong.
Honor needs to be restored in Washington.

Vic

Vic –
There is too little current revenue to stop borrowing altogether until we get back to a balance budget. The required cuts would be far too severe, wherever they are made. There is a need to compromise, and there is a need to raise the debt ceiling. Boehner is just doing the best he can do in a bad situation.

Joe:
Your first sentence encapsulates the entirety of the problem. The jig is up, and it is now time to pay the fiddler. If as you say the required cuts would be “too severe” today, how much more severe would they be if we put them off until tomorrow? This is a giant, exponentially growing snowball rolling down an endless hill of snow. It has to be stopped.
The first bill passed in the House, Cut Cap and Balance, was a fairly good beginning point; but the Democrats, vastly superior politicians that they always prove to be, managed to maneuver the Republican ruling class into a circular firing squad, negotiating with itself, coming up with offer after offer, competing only with themselves and looking like the fools that they are; and doing so while secretly negotiating, behind the scenes, with the enemy.
If another “ceiling raiser” option might be used, it might be the Mac-Penny plan; but that, too, would never be accepted as-is by the Marxist Party. I mean Democrat.
It is high time the ruling class of professional politicians were all replaced by citizen legislators. These turkeys are going to just go ahead and pass another gigantic debt ceiling and get nothing in return, and the Marxocrats are going to borrow it all, “spend” more than they borrow, and we will be right back at this “crisis point” again, only it will be much, much worse than it is now.
Sometimes I wonder if “Republicans” like Boehner and McCain are really deep cover Marxist plants operating within the Republican Party to destroy it.
If America can make it through the 2012 elections – and that is not a certain thing – and if Constitutionalists take both houses of Congress and the White House, then things might turn around quite rapidly.
However, the goal of the Marxocrats seems to be to bring this to a head and destroy America just as soon as possible. They mean to cause chaos, get people into the streets and create massive disorder, so that the Constitution may be suspended, martial law declared, and a good Marxist dictatorship established.
Failing that, they will do all they can to seal America’s doom, economically and otherwise. They hope that the economic hole they are digging us into will eventually mean inevitable national doom, at some point in the future. Regards,
Vic

Vic, you can’t be serious. You cannot really believe that men such as Boehner and McCain could be anti-American.

Oh yes I can be serious. And yes I can believe that men such as Boehner and McCain are anti-American. It’s either that, or they are downright stupid. You look at what they have done, and look at what they are doing, and then you tell me what their driving purpose and their ultimate goal is.
I see three possibilities here:
- They oppose continued national existence;
- They have some corrupt, ulterior, hidden self-serving agenda;
- They are stupid.
I say they are evil, or they are stupid. What’s your pick?

We agree. Big-shot Republicans always seem to suddenly show up and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at the last possible moment, just when we were about to win something.
