It's Independence Day; the 247th birthday of the USA, and this is a terrible thing for me to be writing about and for you to be reading about on such an important day.
But how can good men celebrate this once important day when our beloved nation is becoming a shameful thing, with unconstitutional "laws" on her books, unrepresentative government officials breaking their vows, and with immoral hedonists parading and demonstrating blatant immoralities in our streets, and even threatening violence against those who insist upon remaining moral?
The once loony Left is rapidly becoming the loony Mainstream, because we have allowed it to grow unresisted among us. It is hitting the point where they will be anathematizing us, and relegating us to the dark, shameful places of banishment from polite company, because we failed to anathematize them.
If we tolerate such evil in our midst, how may we call ourselves moral?
The August 8 election coming up is a good indication of the cultural scales in Ohio having shifted dangerously in the immoral direction. The evil "abortion rights" movement is confident it can now win a purely democratic election here in Ohio, and therefore they are pushing for an Ohio constitutional amendment to make abortion a constitutional right in Ohio. They think they can do it, and they just may be right.
The real danger in that, for Ohio and for the nation, is that we are not supposed to be a democracy. As we have argued for the undoing of our fraudulently Democratized US Senate, the authors of the national constitution went to great lengths to make sure we would not be a democracy, and could not become one, and with very good reason.
It seems to us that Ohio, and every other state, would do well to modify their constitutions to emulate our original national constitution, making the sovereign states into nearly unbreakable republics. They could temper the democracy of the House by having each county government, who's chief executive would be the Sheriff, appoint two Senators to the state senate, thereby representing not the voters, but representing the duly elected county government, and being subject to their recall.
The reason for this opinion involves the permanence of moral truths. Morality does not change. Ever. In America, morality is attached to and inseparable from Judaeo-Christian religions, with the Bible and the Ten Commandments at their deepest roots. All original America law grew out from there, and that should still be the source of all new law.
But it is not.
The Marxocrat Party, born of a coalition of slave-driving Planters, who took over the Democrat Party to form the Confederacy, lost the Civil War but were allowed to continue on as a Party, formed the KKK, established the infamous Black Codes and Jim Crow Laws, politically fought for Segregation forever and rioted against MLK at Selma, and then became the Marxocrat Party see and contend with today.
It was anti-American from its birth and it is anti-American today.
The Marxocrat Party has proved, again and again, that it can popularize immorality to the point of politically weaponizing it. It started out unconstitutionally religiously cleansing America from it's Christian roots, and moved on to reverse popular opinions on all moral issues and making us, as a people, into a morally indicriminate people.
Look at that Party today and its leaders and spokesmen. It's hedonism gone wild. Every temptation imaginable, and many unimaginable, are brought forth as "human rights" to be forced down the throats of the whole citizenry against their will, if they will not conform to the new state sponsored hedonism.
Pleasure is always tempting, easy to popularize and weaponoize.
That's what democracy does; that's what republics prevent.
Here's the thing about morals versus democratic polics:
- Right and wrong do not ever change.
- Popular opinion never stops changing, and public opinions can be politically tricked, controlled and guided by politicians.
It's why the Church approved of one and only one Bible, that being the Latin Vulgate, who's only English translation is the Douay Rheims. The Word does not change. It was true when it came out of the cave with St. Jerome around the year 405 A.D., all 76 books of it, it is just as true today, and it will be true forever.
It doesn't matter what anyone's opinion of it is, and it doesn't matter what everyone's opinion of it is. It is the Word, and it is permanent.
Our morality is inseparably intertwined with our religion in that book.
The Church governs ecclesiastically, and the Constitution governs civilly, which is to say morally, separating morals from religion. The "denominations" differ in ecclesial "truths", but they all hold together on moral truths, or they should. At our national founding, they all did.
It's why such things as murder and robbery are crimes here. Where the denominations differed on theology they all agreed on morality.
The whole idea of our national constitution was to emulate the Word, at least in that one aspect of being fixed and unchangeable.
Now, in Ohio, Marxocrats are hoping to trick enough voters into supporting an abortion amendment to the state constitution out of a misguided belief in a "basic human right" description of baby murder.
Issue 1 in the upcoming August 8 election is to make the Ohio constitution like the federal constitution in that it would take a super-majority vote to amend it. It may be our last chance to do that and stop the evil abortion effort, because, abortion is wrong. Period.
No matter how many may vote for it, and no matter how loud anyone screams about it, it is still wrong, and it will always be wrong.
This morning we went to a 4th of July Mass, and the readings selected were from the Immaculate Conception. The Lesson was taken from Proverbs 8:22-35:
The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his ways, before he made any thing from the beginning. I was set up from eternity, and of old before the earth was made. The depths were not as yet, and I was already conceived. neither had the fountains of waters as yet sprung out: The mountains with their huge bulk had not as yet been established: before the hills I was brought forth:
He had not yet made the earth, nor the rivers, nor the poles of the world. When he prepared the heavens, I was present: when with a certain law and compass he enclosed the depths: When he stablished the sky above, and poised the fountains of waters: When he compassed the sea with its bounds, and set a law to the waters that they should not pass their limits: when he balanced the foundations of the earth; I was with him forming all things: and was delighted every day, playing before him at all times;
Playing in the world: and my delights were to be with the children of men. Now therefore, ye children, hear me: Blessed are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, and that watcheth daily at my gates, and waiteth at the posts of my doors. He that shall find me, shall find life, and shall have salvation from the Lord.
This is the wisdom of the Word. This is the wisdom of our Lord. This is fixed, and permanent. As it was in the beginning, so it will be in the end. You can't get away from it.
You can take it or leave it, but you cannot change it, and you cannot avoid the truth of it forever.
August 8, let us make our state constitution a bit more fixed and not so easily voted into irrelevancy as a constitution. And let us make our state a bit more moral, a bit more decent, a bit more Christian and more aligned with God's will than man's.
For the sake of the babies, for their unbaptized souls, and for our own.
And my people, upon whom my name is called, being converted, shall make
supplication to me, and seek out my face, and do penance for their most
wicked ways: then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins
and will heal their land. [2 Chronicles 7:14]
If we save the babies, may God bless America.
